The largest international animation festival in Russia

The XIX International animation festival «The Big Cartoon Festival» (BFM) will be held in Moscow from October 24 to November 5, 2025. The online version of the festival will be available throughout Russia. Numerous cartoon shows, meetings with authors, lectures and master classes will be held within the framework of the BFM. A large-scale Cartoon Factory with educational workshops for children and adults will open in the Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory from November 6 to 10.

More than 400 cartoons from all over the world take part in the Moscow BFM every year. The festival program includes screenings of full-length films, thematic short animation programs for adults and children, meetings with leading artists and directors, and master classes in various animation techniques.

COMPETITION, JURY AND PRIZES

BFM is a competitive festival. From March to June, we receive more than a thousand cartoons from all over the world every year to participate in the competition programs.

The solemn awarding ceremony and presentation of prizes-statuettes of the Animasha girl will take place on November 5 at the Illusion cinema.

CARTOON FACTORY — CARTOON TRAVEL FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

A huge exhibition and educational project for the whole family and a journey into the world of animation will be held at the Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory from November 7 to 10. In the workshops of the Factory, from morning to evening, directors, artists and screenwriters will conduct master classes for children and adults on all kinds of animation techniques - plasticine, sand, layover, stop motion...

Every year, the festival hosts meetings and workshops with directors, screenwriters, artists and other representatives of the animation industry. The lecture by Yuri Borisovich Norstein, which always takes place with a full house, has become a good tradition of the BFM.

OF THE FESTIVAL

Guests will be able to participate in online meetings with famous directors and artists of animated films, participants of competitive programs. The platform will have a voting system where everyone will be able to rate their favorite cartoon. The audience Award in the form of an Animashka statuette will be awarded after the online festival.

NIGHT ANIMATION

One of the flagship events of the BFM is Animation Night. By tradition, it takes place on the second weekend of the festival in Moscow's largest cinema, KARO, on October 11. This is a multi-hour non-stop of the best foreign short animation. It is also a great opportunity to see almost all the festival programs literally in one night.

PHILANTROPIC PROGRAM

One of the most beloved and long-awaited charity programs by young viewers, it is held every year in Moscow cinemas, cultural centers and libraries. The program is made up of the best Russian cartoons for children in recent years. It includes one selection of films for the youngest and two for primary and secondary school students. The entire program is shown free of charge.

COLLECTION OF INTERVIEWS, REVIEWS: BLOG.MULTFEST.RU

The BFM blog began in 2013 as a diary of the Annecy Festival, but almost immediately changed its format and now this blog is run by BFM Program director Dina Goder, talking about foreign and Russian festivals where she goes or where she watches movies online. In addition, there are reviews of the programs of the Big Cartoon Festival itself, interviews with Russian and foreign directors and producers, and starting in 2019, the top best author's cartoons of the year from around the world are published for the New Year.
